Can Papiol museum reopens in Vilanova

After five years of extensive renovations, the gem of romantic architecture in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Garraf), i.e. the Can Papiol Museum (C/ Major), is again open to the public. The opening hours are Fridays-Saturdays 10:00-13:00 plus 16:00-18:00 and Sundays 10:00-14:00. Visitors have to follow one of the guided tours which start every full hour and the normal ticket price is €3 (€1,5 for children, students and retired people).

Personally, I warmly recommend you to visit Can Papiol since it gives you a unique insight into the life of one of the richest families of Vilanova in the 19th century. This is a genuine residence with the Papiols’ own furniture and decorations and thus not a collection of objects typical for the time but originally from different households.

Hi Erik! This is Tirs. Two points to clarify: First, Can Papiol was partially open last July 5, allowing to visit only the "noble" areas, that is, where the Mr. Papiol worked and lived with his family. The areas destinated to the service personnel (kitchen, maidens' rooms...) and the garden was still closed. I am glad to hear that it's fully open now.
Second: Mr. Papiol was not a noble, although he was close to the aristocracy circles. He was a Notary Public.

Now it's not allowed to take pictures during the visit (as far as I know) but, during the first day, they allowed us to take a few as a bonus; you can find them here:

(Shame on me, I didn't add the photo comments yet. Sorry).

Hi Tirs,

Thanks for your comment and for adding details to the presentation of Can Papiol.

I'll immediately remove the word 'noble' in front of the family name. Thanks.

Ah, so you'll not be able to take photos in the future. How fortunate for me that also I took a few during the sneak opening during the summer! ;)
