Catalan Nativity Scenes

Yet another time, our Swedish family has had the opportunity to marvel at the beautiful and elaborate nativity scenes which you find here in Catalonia during the Christmas festivities.

The first picture shows a part of the big the crib in plaça de la Vila, here in Vilanova i la Geltrú, while the rest can be found in the premises of Associació Pessebrista (C/ Cabanyes, 17). This exhibition will be open until January 17 (Monday-Saturday: 18.00-20.00; Sundays and holidays: 12.00-14.00 and 18.00-20.00).

My favourite scene this year has very little to do with religion - it is a very detailed model of Vilanova and la Geltrú, when these were still two separate small towns, surrounded by walls.
