Recommended: the Òscar Estruga Exhibition at La Sala
I love when Vilanova does the right things at the right time and that is the case with an on-going art exhibition. La Sala – Vilanova’s Centre of Contemporary Art – invites everyone to the cool under its valves at a time when we need a break from the heat outside. And local artist Òscar Estruga deserves to be discovered by everyone who does not yet know his work. His is, among other things, the hand behind Vilanova’s most emblematic piece of public art; the bull Pasífae on the breakwater of the beach Ribes Roges.
“El laberint i la vida” (“the maze and the life”) is the name of this collection of sculptures, paintings, drawings and engravings which allows you to follow Estruga’s 55 years as an active artist. Greek mythology is the dominating theme but you do not need to remember the stories to appreciate the shapes of its characters. Even small children will enjoy this exhibition.
La Sala with the address C/ Joaquim Mir, 12, is easily accessible from the northern part of Vilanova’s Rambla. This exhibition will continue until September 13, entry is free and it is open during the day (11:00-14:00) on Saturdays and Sundays, plus in the evening (18:00-21:00) from Tuesday to Saturday.
