Catalan Devils Dancing Under Fire – ‘Correfoc’ in Vilanova i la Geltrú

We have reached midsummer and, as of tradition, the town district Baix a Mar of Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona, Catalonia) celebrates Festes de Sant Pere. One of the highlights, in my eyes, is the correfoc (“firerun”) with devils and firespitting monsters.

This correfoc, admittedly, cannot be compared with the big one which we see here during the festa major , but I do think that it has found its own profile, since it makes you discover the streets of a district which so many of us regularly pass through on the way to the beaches, but where cultural activities of this kind are rare.

A big hand to the organisers, Tronats de Mar, and the participating teams, among others Carpa Juanito i Porró and Ball de Diables del Bisbal del Penedès.

Discover Vilanova i la Geltrú – my town in Catalonia!
