Lapao - A New Minority Language Born in Aragon ...or Discover Penedès, May 25-26
Ahead of the weekend May 25-26 Mona wants to sell in a flamenco festival in Barcelona while her husband Göran thinks that you should focus on Catalan culture if you come here as a tourist, so he highlights that there will be exhibitions of human towers, eg. in Igualada (Anoia).
After this the atmosphere worsens because Göran is angry with the Regional Government of Aragon which has decided that the language spoken in its eastern parts will not any longer be called Catalan but Lapao (lengua aragonesa propia del área oriental). Mona for her part agrees with the Spanish (PP) Government, and stresses that Aragon has a constitutional right to have its own languages, whether or not the linguists of the world recognize these as separate languages.
