Human Towers for the Dragonslayer

On April 23, all of Catalonia celebrates its patron saint Sant Jordi (St. George) but already last Sunday, did we (castellers) build human towers in his honor in Vilanova i la Geltrú. We in the local team, Bordegassos de Vilanova, managed to reach al our objective: 5de7 (albeit thanks to some skillful manoeuvres, especially by children at the top), 4de7, 3de7, Vano the 5 and Pde5s.

Joves Xiquets de Valls Xiquet - one of Catalonia's best teams – demonstrated their strength with two super-stable towers of eight levels: 4de8 and 3de8.

Our other guests, Nens del Vendrell - who had a very good season in 2010 - due to the absence of some members, had to settle for 3de7 as the best construcion.

The next appearance by Bordegassos will be in Cabra del Camp (Tarragona) on May 8, yet again together with Joves Xiquet de Valls.

Hi Mark,

Last Sunday must have been especially frightening for the local fans, but the children proved such calm and maturity by solving it so well.

Whenever you come to watch us, please, ask just any Bordegàs for the Swede - it would be nice to say hello!
